An organization called Fair Michigan tried organizing their forces to put a proposed ballot measure on the November 2016 ballot to extend Elliott-Larsen Sexual Orientation Gender Identification to the Michigan Constitution. As of yesterday their efforts have come to a crashing halt for this election year.
Dana Nessel stated earlier that they are certain that there is “zero chance” of this legislature voting on Elliott-Larsen extensions in this current session. They needed a coalition to cooperate on the ballot wording to get it on the ballot. It wasn’t happening.
For all of the false narrative the LGBTQWERTY community gives about how they are all about love and acceptance, they simply could not find enough acceptance among their own LGBTQWERTY strange bedfellows. Quoting the Detroit Free Press they “placed the blame of the ballot proposal demise directly at the feet of Equality Michigan and the ACLU, saying the groups created a “toxic environment” and scared away potential donors to the campaign.” Toxic environment created by them?
MACS is taking the initiative on this and I’m confident this issue is not going away. They will repackage it and try to resell it (they always do). Until then, “let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith” Hebrews 12:1b-2a.
